Thomas Sohmers

Thomas Sohmers is a co-founder and CTO of Positron AI, a fabless semiconductor startup building chips and systems that are optimized for extreme memory capacities and bandwidth needed for generative AI workloads. Positron's first generation product began shipping in 2024, and is delivering 3 to 4x better performance per dollar and performance per watt for Transformer model inference over traditional GPU systems.

He was a recipient of the Thiel Fellowship in 2013 and has founded two prior semiconductor startups. Previously, Thomas was Principal Hardware Architect at Lambda, where he built out the original hardware deployments for Lambda Cloud, and was Director of Technology Strategy at Groq.
