Max Jaderberg is chief AI officer at Isomorphic Labs, he leads the research and application of machine learning for drug discovery, including the latest AlphaFold model. He has led breakthrough research in algorithms and methods using machine learning across multiple application domains. Isomorphic Labs is a digital biology company working to redefine drug discovery with the power and pace of artificial intelligence. Founded in 2021 with the belief that the foundational use of cutting edge computational and AI methods can help scientists take their work to the next level and massively accelerate the drug discovery process. Prior to Isomorphic Labs, Max was at DeepMind (now known as GoogleDeepMind). Max led the Open-Ended Learning research team and pioneered numerous algorithms combining large-scale deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative models to achieve world-leading results with AI. These include AlphaStar, Capture the Flag, and Spatial Transformer Networks. Prior to that, Max was CEO and co-founder of Vision Factory, a company specialising in image recognition technology with deep learning, such as the Imagenet-winning networking 2014. Vision Factory joined the Google family in 2014 to become part of DeepMind. Max completed his undergraduate degree in engineering science at the University of Oxford and his PhD with the Visual Geometry Group at the University of Oxford, where he developed deep learning algorithms for image understanding. He is widely published in journals including Nature and Science with his work featuring in textbooks. Max together with the team at Isomorphic Labs is pioneering the emerging field of digital biology, combining machine learning with computational biology to usher in a new era of biomedical breakthroughs.
